Our Internal Medicine Procedures

Veterinary internal medicine encompasses a wide range of internal diseases that include organ failure, hormonal issues, cancer, and more. Common internal conditions include diabetes, heartworm disease, thyroid diseases, parvovirus (dogs only), and feline immunodeficiency virus (cats only). In order to treat these diseases effectively, we need to diagnose them properly first. Dr. Drazner uses the latest equipment and practices to develop a comprehensive diagnosis so we can prescribe an effective treatment. Some of our procedures include:

  • Ultrasounds
  • Ultrasound-guided biopsies
  • Endoscopy of both upper and lower gastrointestinal tract
  • Bronchoscopy (examination of the airways)
  • Rhinoscopy (examination of the nose)
  • Cystoscopy (examination of the bladder)

Veterinary Oncology Procedures

Oncology is the field of medicine that involves the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. Pets can develop many of the same cancers we can, with the most common being lymphoma, hemangiosarcoma (blood cancer) osteosarcoma (bone cancer), mast cell tumors, and skin cancer. To diagnose and treat cancer, Dr. Drazner performs several procedures:

  • Tumor staging
  • Tumor biopsy
  • Bone marrow biopsy
  • Chemotherapy (systemic and intracavitary)
  • Immunotherapy
